How can I transfer money into my checking or savings account?

You can transfer part or all of your benefits to your checking or savings account by completing a one-time or regular direct deposit transfer online at www.bankofamerica.com/eddcard or by calling customer service at 1.866.692.9374.

Please be aware that the Employment Development Department would never come you to collect personal bank account information. You must initiate any direct deposit transfer request with Bank of America.

How can I activate my EDD Debit Card?

To use a card with simply a magnetic stripe, follow these steps:

PIN-based purchases:

1. swipe your credit card.

2. Select “debit,” and then enter your PIN.

3. If you wish cash, select the amount, which will be added to your purchase.

4. Bring your credit card, cash, and receipt.

To obtain cash or check your balance at an ATM, follow these steps:

1. Insert your credit card and enter your PIN.

2. Select “checking” to withdraw money or “checking” and “balance inquiry” to check your balance.

3. Enter the amount to be withdrawn.

4. Bring your credit card, cash, and receipt.

Purchases requiring a signature:

1. Hand over or swipe your card.

2. Select “credit.”

3. Sign, then take your credit card and receipt.

To use a chip-enabled card (only new or replacement cards):

1. Insert your credit or debit card into the terminal.

2. Complete the transaction by following the prompts.

You may be prompted to enter your Identification Number (PIN) or authenticate the transaction.

If you want cashback from a merchant, select “debit” and enter your PIN; the amount entered will be added to your purchase if your balance is adequate.

Otherwise, you have the option of selecting credit.

3. When your transaction is complete, remove your card from the terminal.

If a terminal is not chip-enabled, you can swipe your card and follow the on-screen instructions.

To obtain cash from a Visa bank or credit union:

1. Request a “Visa Manual Cash Disbursement” from the teller.

2. Show your card and specify how much money you want from your available balance.

The teller will not charge you a fee for this service.

3. Bring your credit card, cash, and receipt.
